Given the recent actions of group members to blantanly miss practice for their own personal selfish gains, and past self indulgent behaviors I am compelled to seriously think about Sabura and where this failed group is going.
Last year we ended our dancing season with me highly frustrated and annoyed because people do NOT know what the words commitment and sacrifice mean. There was so much attention and concern with personal ego that group was eventually canceled and I wanted NOTHING to do with any of you all for the 2009-2010 school year. However, at the insistence and promise of some group members I was convinced that this year would be different. I was assured that students would be more accountable to the group, and this has not happened.
I left Saturday's practice doubtful because we were rehearsing transitions and going over choreography while 2 members were absent! This means I would have to re shift, reorganize, change counts etc? Why? Why should people keep having to ADJUST because people are not committed? Thus, while I left it that you guys could come up with a plan it is obvious that no matter how disappointed I am, how terrible you look in practice nothing motivates any change in you all. As a result Sabura is dropped and will be officially withdrawn from the MLK audition. Please do not text/call/email about this my decision is set.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
----------Letter I am mailing out to Ms. Lewis Monday Morning--------------------------------------
Dear Ms. Lewis and the MLK Selection Committee-
I regret to inform you that due to matters beyond our control John D. O'Bryant's Sabura Dance Troupe will have to resign it's application of audition for the 2010 Martin Luther King Celebration. We thank you in advance for your consideration and wish you a successful event.
